This third annual professional development course in videoconference format is offered by the Professional Recyclers of Pennsylvania (PROP) with the support of the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP). The program will examine how waste reduction and reuse strategies can impact recycling and waste management programs. The first segment will focus on Waste Reduction and will feature Greg Harder, Waste Reduction Specialist with DEP, who will examine recent trends in waste reduction. Al Fralinger, of PSEG, the Public Service Enterprise Group, will show how employing resource management contract techniques has helped to reduce costs for his company's 100 locations in New Jersey.

The GreenWorks.tv award-winning video "Choose to Reuse" will lead into Reuse segment of the program. Julie Rhodes of ReDO, the Reuse Development Organization, will share her perspective on the national reuse movement. Mark Mazick, Chairman of the Board of Harrisburg's CHANNELS Food Rescue, and Mike Gable, manager of Pittsburgh's Construction Junction reuse center will talk about the challenges their groups face on a day to day basis. Choose to Reuse

This episode takes us across the state to see how people are closing the recycling loop by reusing materials in innovative ways. See textile recycling in action, meet a Philadelphia sculptor who salvages trash and turns it into treasure, and experience first hand how others are finding ways to reuse discarded materials.

Why Pay Your Neighbor's Trash Bill?

Three Pennsylvania municipalities were featured in this Pay-As-You-Throw (PAYT) videoconference/webcast sponsored by DEP and the Professional Recyclers of Pennsylvania.
